Q4A is looking to expand our team and require a BIM/CAD Director to provide comprehensive and proactive technical support to project teams and end users. The successful candidate will lead our transformation efforts to become fully 100% Revit as part of our future development platform. This position will be based in Toronto. You will also provide remote support for our Calgary office.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with modeling, drawing, and support
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD drawing and support
  • Computer Coding experience is recommended but not required
  • Should have an understanding of engineering and architectural documentation and construction
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • A customer service-oriented approach

Technical Skills


AutoCAD

  • Demonstrated high level proficiency in AutoCAD; both 3D modelling and 2D drafting
  • Preparation of Dynamic Blocks and on-demand Block creation
  • Creation and Management of LSP Routines
  • Maintenance and optimization of drawing standards in coordination with Revit
  • Drawing style/appearance template maintenance
  • Creation and optimization of add-ons and tools to enhance drawing efficiencies
  • Applicant should be adaptable to established processes and standards

Revit

  • Demonstrated high level proficiency in Revit; both 3D modelling and 2D drafting
  • Create, Maintain, and educate staff on Dynamo script use to maximize efficiencies
  • Create and Maintain Vray for Revit material and asset libraries and educate staff on use of the tool
  • On-demand Family and Template Creation
  • Drawing style/appearance template maintenance
  • Maintain 3D and 2D detail/drafting libraries
  • Manage Firm-wide software up-date and required project updates


Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)

Newforma - Able to learn quickly and adapt

Bluebeam - Able to learn quickly and adapt

Education

A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Design, or similar coupled with relevant experience would be preferred

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and active Revit & AutoCAD support
  • Tasks and initiatives such as Revit protocols, process standardization, content libraries, new tool research
  • Help and direct teams with preparation of BIM Execution Plans, project set-out templates, and Revit implementation planning on new projects
  • Actively check for conformance on BIM-mandated projects
  • Provide project-specific training and onboarding to project team members
  • Engage in daily contact with project teams to understand their Revit & AutoCAD needs
  • Educate and ensure that Revit & AutoCAD standards and procedures are properly and consistently followed by end users
  • Provide support for all emergency troubleshooting scenarios
  • Actively maintain communication with office including: office-wide emails, group training sessions, new tool presentations, etc.
  • Supported by IT, able to configure/ tune Revit & AutoCAD software on users’ machines where needed and/or requested
  • Participate in new tool/technology testing and deployment
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Maintain active relationships with Autodesk and third-party retailers/trainers
  • Participate in Toronto user-group communities and attend related technology conferences
