Q4 is seeking an ambitious, passionate, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Design Manager to join our Low Rise team. The successful candidate will have 8-10 year’s professional Canadian experience in architectural design, with a strong emphasis in the design of low rise design for communities and mixed use projects and working drawings.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead a multifaceted team - design and technical;
  • Minimum of 8-10 years Canadian experience in the design and production of projects and with specific experience in Single Family and multi-unit residential experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Help support design culture in the office;
  • Strong knowledge and fluency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Revit Architecture 2015;
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, wood construction and detailing;
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Part 9 design and construction;
  • Ability to work independently, developing and designing, coordinating drawings;
  • The ability to lead multiple projects and coordinate with various consulting professionals;
  • Ability with 3D Modelling skills an asset;
  • Ability to analyze and assist in developing zoning by-laws;
  • Ability to review and assist in developing design guidelines and design briefs;
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, current building systems and materials;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines;
  • Strong business and customer service focus;
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work efficiently and with accuracy; and
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Education

Architectural degree. Registered OAA Architect or the ability to register with the OAA

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the firm’s principal and clients to review project requirements
  • Lead in the design of conceptual building elevations, floor plans, and site plans including renderings for proposals and marketing
  • Space plan buildings to suit clients’ specific needs
  • Modern architectural schematic design and presentation of assigned projects in our wide body of work
  • Conduct quality control checks on technical documents
  • Prepare and modify architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc. Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings
  • Liaison with management, project team and consultants
  • Contribute to the overall success of the projects by committing to utilizing best practices.
  • Assure that all deadlines are met
