Q4 Architects is looking for someone to join our Calgary office. If you are ambitious, passionate and enthusiastic, we have an Intermediate Architectural Technologist opening in our Calgary office. This position requires a minimum of 5 year’s professional Canadian experience, with a strong emphasis on design and construction drawings for low and mid-rise residential projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in both Alberta and Ontario.

  • Strong knowledge and fluent in AutoCad 2016 and REVIT;
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, wood construction and detailing;
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Ontario Building Code, Part 9 design and construction;
  • Ability to work independently, developing and designing, coordinating drawings;
  • The ability to work on multiple projects and coordinate with various consulting professionals;
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Knowledge of Newforma an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Preferred minimum of 5 years’ Canadian experience in the design and production of projects;
  • Single family and multi-residential experience;

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects;

  • Ability to work independently;

  • Client service focus;

  • Strong work ethic, ability to work efficiently and with accuracy; and

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.


College Diploma in Architectural Technology (minimum 3 year) and/or Bachelor of Architecture


  • Execute drawings, construction documents, technical documents, sketches, etc.
  • Collaborate in the production of construction drawings and specifications, according to set standards;
  • Collaborate in the production of conceptual drawings, technical production, and in solving technical problems;
  • Coordinate the production of plans and specifications with other construction professionals; Conduct research on products and take part in the selection of materials and construction systems;
  • Conduct quality control checks on technical documents;
  • Prepare and modify architectural documents, elevations, sections, develop details, etc. Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings;
  • Contribute to the overall success of the projects by committing to utilizing best practices; and
  • Assure that all deadlines are met.
