The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for residential design excellence, construction and have strong communication skills on-site as well as in the office. They anticipate the needs of clients and contractors, while collaborating with the team to keep the project on-time and on-budget. They think three steps ahead and seek solutions before a problem emerges. They will work directly with their Project Architects/Managers, project team members and collaborate with multiple stakeholders including studio leaders, municipal authorities, planners, engineers, and contractors to:

  • Develop, document, and coordinate a complex building design
  • Gather facts, conceptualize possible solutions and secure approvals of proposals and solutions
  • Site observation and reporting
  • Reviews product literature, analyzes materials and determines appropriateness
  • Develops Construction Documents
  • Establishing project Specifications
  • Organize, analyze, and coordinate various consultant, site, jurisdictional, and team information
  • Endorse and maintain firm documentation and filing standards while keeping project deliverables organized and on schedule

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience with Residential and Multi- Residential projects with a strong emphasis on wood-framed low & mid-rise design for residential and mixed-use work
  • Professional Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology
  • Experience with Newforma is an asset
  • Experience working between BIM (Revit, Navisworks, etc.) and CAD software environments
  • Proficient with Ontario Building Code (Parts 3 and 9, with emphasis on part 9)
  • Experience in on-site reviews and Construction Administration
  • Dedication to a project, its design intent, and its successful construction
  • Rigorous attention to detail through design and construction
  • Strong Communication (both verbal and written)
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priority
  • WHMIS and Working-at-heights training will be immediately required

Portfolio Must Demonstrate:

  • Experience with wood frame multi-family residential projects (townhouses, stacked towns, back to backs, etc.)
  • Advanced experience in Revit and AutoCAD

Currently, this role is a remote-working position but will immediately require in-person Site Reviews at construction sites in the greater Ottawa area. Our client's construction sites provide a variety of COVID-related safety measures to ensure worker safety through this pandemic. Q4A utilizes Zoom and Microsoft Teams for digital collaboration among project teams and communicating with our clients. Working knowledge and comfort with these systems is essential to the success of this role.

You must reside in the Ottawa area and be eligible to work in Canada.
