Description BT Towns is a residential development on Bridletowne Circle, comprised of both stacked townhomes and apartment style dwellings. The project establishes a medium scale, diminishing the difference in scale between the low-rise single-family homes and the high-rise apartments of the area.
Toronto’s post-war building boom resulted in 1,925 high rise apartment towers spread throughout the city's existing residential fabric. As with many neighbourhood’s in the city, this left Bridletowne Circle with a “Missing Middle” – a gap between detached single houses and high-rise apartments with no transition zone in between. BT Towns provides an innovative way of answering this challenge while adhering to Toronto’s official plan and Ontario’s intensification objectives.
Located on the site of a former one-storey nine-unit commercial strip-plaza, this project proposes an apartment building and stacked townhouse blocks containing 60 residential units. In three distinct blocks, 22 grade related units are accommodated with 8 walk-up dwellings and 30 residential apartments served by a common corridor. All units have a unique combination of townhouses and apartment typologies allowing for a range of sizes, configurations and affordability.
