  • Description This purpose-built rental community in Chappelle, Edmonton is expected to be completed in Spring 2023. Designed for Avana, this phase of the Creekwood Chappelle community, introduces 3-storey stacked townhouses into a verdant setting, complete with various natural and community amenities. Through the Avana Foundation, a portion of this housing will be affordable and allocated to housing women and children fleeing intimate partner violence.

The 134 townhomes will be located in the Edmonton community of Chappelle and is considered to be one of the first purpose built-rental developments, with 30 percent of the suites being offered at below market rates. The project looks to support women escaping domestic violence through its care and attention to detail. It provides secure spaces that strive to create a sense of home and community. Units range from 1 to 3 bedroom with grade-oriented entrances, positioned facing the road to encourage community engagement. The site is also located near green spaces, trails and public amenities. The position of the buildings and their response to site was carefully handled to provide views, guarantee garage access and celebrate its public spaces. Q4A designed each townhouse to become an affordable option that provided safety to its survivors looking to rebuild.
