Description Interior gallery fit-out for 5 feature museum galleries
The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is a museum of human and natural history. Q4 Architects was retained by the exhibit contractor, Kubik, to act as the Architect of Record and Coordinating Professional for the interior gallery fit-out for the 5 feature galleries of the museum: Children’s Gallery, Bugs Gallery, Human History Gallery, Natural History Gallery and the Manitou Stone Gallery. As Architect of Record, Q4A’s primary role was to translate the gallery design drawings into an intent-based set of drawings for the purposes of obtaining jurisdiction approval (building permit) which included coordination of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing scopes of work alongside Smith + Anderson consulting engineers . Central to this effort was working closely with LMDG Building Code consultants, to ensure the gallery fit-out was completed in accordance with the Alberta Building Code. Throughout the construction phase, Q4A conducted frequent field reviews to ensure work was progressing in accordance with the permit drawings and building code requirements.
