At Q4 Architects, creativity doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it thrives in conversation, in curiosity, and in the exchange of ideas. That’s why we hold regular huddles: short, informal presentations where team members come together to share inspiration, provoke discussion, and spark new ways of thinking.
Unlike traditional project meetings, our huddles aren’t about deadlines or deliverables. Instead, they’re a space for curiosity to lead. Most often, they offer a peek behind the curtain of our own work—from early concept studies to technical detailing on amid-rise residential building. They give us the chance to reflect on design choices, share lessons learned across our three studios, and build a deeper collective understanding of the work we do every day.
A Space for Curiosity
Our huddles play a crucial role in sharing knowledge and experiences across our three studios. By connecting team members from different locations, we create a platform for diverse perspectives and ideas to flourish. These sessions help us get to know each other better, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration that transcends geographical boundaries.
Exploring Beyond Our Portfolio
But our huddles aren’t limited to our own portfolio. Some weeks, we step outside the studio to explore an emerging building technology, unpack a global housing precedent, or look closely at an under-the-radar project that’s pushing boundaries in thoughtful ways. Sometimes, a team member simply shares a building that’s stuck with them—something that made them pause, think, or smile. These explorations broaden our horizons and keep us informed about the latest trends and innovations in architecture.
One of the most exciting aspects of our huddles is when team members share their experiences from architectural trips they take. Whether it's a visit to a renowned architectural landmark, participation in an international conference, or a study tour of cutting-edge sustainable buildings, these stories bring a wealth of insights and inspiration to our team.
Celebrating Diversity
Given the diverse backgrounds of our talented team, some huddles are dedicated to exploring the architectural heritage of our various countries. During these special sessions, team members present significant projects or influential architects from their home countries, offering unique perspectives and insights. These presentations celebrate our multicultural team, enhancing our understanding of global architectural traditions and fostering a sense of pride and belonging among our members.
Designing a Creative Environment
What makes huddles so valuable is the range of perspectives they bring. Whether we’re dissecting one of our latest residential designs or drawing inspiration from halfway across the world, the goal is the same: to stay curious, connected, and creatively energized. For new and seasoned team members alike, huddles are a chance to learn from one another, test ideas, and deepen our collective design intelligence. They reflect a core part of our culture: the fact that we value curiosity, dialogue, and the constant pursuit of better ideas.
We don’t just design houses and buildings—we design a studio environment where creativity and learning are part of the everyday. Huddles are one small way we make that happen.
